SVMC
Trial..
Nigel Tompkins kindly offered to let me ride the trial at short notice, even though technically I am a clubman expert and this event was a novice/clubman trial. But when I arrived it became obvious that they were going to struggle getting 12 observers so I decided to observe and have a little play on the bike before and after. As I had section 12 and the entry were split between 1 and 6 at the start I had a chance to grab some images of 4 or 5 riders trying the sections just before mine... sorry to all that I didn't get but they quickly arrived at my section and I had to do observing duty for the rest of the trial... Pontypool
dmmc trial.
I travelled over the bridge into Wales again for the Pontypool DMMC Dave Sargent trial. What a hell of a venue, lovely rocky stream bed with some big climbs and steps and I reckon you could easily hold a national event there.
I rode the masters route, or clubman experts, or 50/50 as it can be called in various areas. One of the expert sections I had to ride caused me a few problems and I 5'd it on the first two laps and then suffered really bad arm pump and couldn't hold onto the bars through this long section so asked for 5's for the last two laps.. That accounted for 20 of my 43 score! Even so I managed to grab 2nd place in class, missing out by 6 marks for the win. Visit the club Blog  for full results. I was after a shot for a possible T&MX report so I took just a handful and put them in a Small Photo Gallery
xpamotor 300 For more information and some very nice images of the new XPA Motor 300 click any the pictures here to visit the XPAMotor web site... looks much better with David Cobos' input.

british youth a and b championship

pontypool a and b

.Local Lad Jake Evans-Luter took the A class honours in the latest British Youth A and B class Championships. The club had kindly asked me along to take photos and perhaps a report for the printed Trials media. So i had a ring side seat to see the youngsters at work, and my god can they ride!! Obviously I get to see Jake's riding in local trials but when you see him and the other top A riders tackle what, to me, looked like some dodgy parts of sections it makes you realise that the next generation that move into the adult ranks are not going to be found wanting! It was sorted for me to ride my Bike around the event so I could get to as many sections as possible so after the trial I had a quick ride of a B class route and am pleased to say I cleaned it... just! Sadly I then rode out of the stream and hit a rock hard and snapped my rear brake pedal.. doh!!! I will leave a trial report as someone may print my utterings later but must say what a great Job the people at the Pontypool DMMC did with the event, especially in testing weather conditions. The heavy rain made it hard to get good photos but i tried...

Local Event..
Yeo Vale
Must say a big thanks to the Yeo Vale club for not only a very nice welcome but a great trial on 13th June. The sun shone all day and the whole event was perfectly set up and run. I convinced myself, after looking at the first section near the car park, that I would ride the Expert route in the clubman/expert class. Turned out that this section was by far the easiest of the day and I struggled on a few of the expert sections. Not really from lack of riding skill but mainly that I got knackered about 3/4 of the way around the first lap and then had to do 3 more!! After very little riding in the last 2 months I now realise I need to get my rider fitness back up again.. and stop eating Macdonalds and chocolate :)
The sections were spot on and it was nice to see a full set of classes marked out including a green course for complete beginners and some of the very young kids on small wheel bikes. It was also nice for me to have so many people come up to me during the day and say how much they enjoy this site... it turns out it isn't just me who reads it!! I would highly recommend anyone to pop down, or up or across, to the next Yeo Vale event and have a bloody good day out. Results from this trial and further club info can be found on the Yeo Vale MCC web site.
